3 ways to simplify submitting your charity accounts

Getting your Annual Return submitted can be a stressful time of year for those trustees tasked with getting it submitted in full and on time.

Here’s three ways to simplify the process so it doesn’t turn into a nightmare.

📅 Work back from your submission date.

Schedule time to complete charity accounts at least 4-6 weeks out from the deadline.  By doing this, you avoid panic and have plenty of time to pull everything together especially if you’re relying on information from others.

⏱️ Don’t just do it once a year

The best way to simplify the whole process of getting your accounts together is to focus on your accounts little and often.

Aim for doing some of the accounts every month so you are fully ahead of the curve by the time submission time rolls around.

Not looking at your accounts for a year and then trying to pull them together at the last minute will always take longer and be much, much more stressful.

🔒 Keep everything in one place (preferably securely, in the cloud)

What makes submitting accounts painful is needing to bring so much together as well as remembering basic details such as passwords. Allocate one place for all accounts documentation and keep usernames and password securely somewhere.
